Cisco has announced the release of their Business Edition 7000 (The successor to the Business Edition 6000), to target the 1000-5000 Unified Communications end user business space. Leveraging VMWare to run multiple Cisco Virtual Servers, this platform can deliver services from Call Processing to Instant Messaging to Jabber and Unified Messaging. The BE6000 includes Collaboration tools (Cisco’s Cloud-based WebEx) and paging (both to individual endpoints as well as to groups of endpoints) as well as an attendant console solution. Typical deployments will include two to four physical servers.
