Apple has been working on their new programming language, Swift, for over 4 years and even those inside Apple did not know if was being developed. The new programming language was announced at the most recent WWDC conference. Chris Lattner, head of Apple’s Developer Tools unit, discusses some thoughts on the development. The hope is that programmers will adopt the language and develop apps and programs but may see backlash due to Apple’s closed ecosystem environment.
